Chicken Pulao


  • Boneless chicken- 150 grams
  • Basmati brown rice- 2-3 tbsp
  • Ginger paste- 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic- 2 pods
  • Chilli
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil- 2 tsp
  • Cloves- 4-5
  • Green cardamoms- 2
  • Bay leaves- 2
  • Onions sliced- 1 medium
  • Tomato chopped- 1 medium
  • Grounded black pepper
  • Salt


  1. Marinate the chicken in a mixture of the ginger garlic paste and salt for one hour.
  2. Heat the oil in a pressure cooker add the cloves, cinnamon, cardamoms, black pepper, chilli and bay leaves. Sauté for about ten seconds.
  3. Add the onions and saute till golden brown. Add the tomatoes and cook over high heat for three minutes
  4. Add the chicken with the marinade and sauté for two or three minutes. .
  5. Add rice and water. Seal the cooker with the lid and cook over medium heat till the pressure releases twice (two whistles).
  6. Remove the lid when the pressure has reduced completely and stir lightly to separate the rice grains.
  7. Serve hot
